Should I buy a surface mount RV power outlet box, a direct burial RV pedestal or a pad mounted RV pedestal? What is the difference?
Surface mount boxes can be mounted to a post or wall. There is a blank hub on top of the box for overhead feed and knockouts for underground feed. They do not have loop feed lugs so it is best to buy a pedestal style if you want to daisy chain the boxes together.
Direct burial RV pedestals go into the ground two feet. Box has option for overhead or underground feed. Depth of bottom of pedestal is approximately 3" for conduit. Loop feed lugs take up to 350MCM.
Pad mounted RV pedestals are meant to be installed/bolted down onto a concrete pad. Box has option for overhead or underground feed. Depth of bottom of pedestal is approximately 3" for conduit. Loop feed lugs take up to 350MCM.
